524048 2007-02-08 22:48:00 Hi all, say I was wondering if anyone had any information on Terrestrial TV here in NZ. Last year I got myself an HDTV DVB-T USB "SticK" and had no trouble in tuning in the signal. I used the program that came with it, BlazeDVD & ProgDVB, However "it" seems to have gone?

If I remember correctly it was on 698MHz ? anyhow I do NOT seem to be able to get any signal now? At first, I suspected my hardware, however I have since gotten myself another one, (from Ebay they only cost me like US$30.00 all up) but still I cannot get any signal? Consequently I dunno if I am chasing my tail, and there is NO signal to receive, or? I do have hardware/software problems. BTW, I have tried it on other platforms, and still no reception on either? Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

524050 2007-02-08 23:06:00 Speedy ... Doh! It is TERRESTRIAL TV no satellite required.. lol. If ya read the post correctly me ol mate, you would see I said I DID used to receive it 100% A OK last year. ya musta missed that bit?

What I need to know is if Terrestrial DVB-T is still being transmitted.

BTW I DO indeed have a satellite dish and have NO problems with my Sat TV.

FYI, With Terrestrial DVB-TV a Digital Signal is transmitted from a Land Based Transponder, B4, it/they were on they Sky Tower & Waitakaries, the signal is also transmitted via a Satellite Optus on 12483MHz.

But thanks for your reply... U R Kind for trying.

524051 2007-02-08 23:48:00 Terrestrial digital TV is slowly being rolled out nationwide from 2008 (I assume you're referring to Freeview). This is different from HDTV, which is high-def, whereas the digital tv being rolled out here is not.

You may have been picking up a "test" signal while they were trialing Freeview, so the transmission may have been stopped now until they officially roll it out.

If you desperately want digital TV, Satellite is being rolled out this year.

btw. when people try to help you, don't jump on them if they stuff something up. We're all human here.

524053 2007-02-09 03:57:00 Are you in Auckland? If so, maybe you were picking up the test DVB-T transmission? I think they may have stopped it now - perhaps someone with a digital tuner can confirm this. I heard they are going to be using MPEG4 for the terrestrial broadcasts, and since the test was MPEG2 it would make sense that they may have switched it off since the launch of Freeview is only several months away. maccrazy (6741)
524054 2007-02-09 05:48:00 The DTT (Terrestrial, test signal) in Auckland was turned off a few weeks ago)

I've just started a mailing list at yahoogroups for Freeview digital related news and discussion. It is open to all. Link is below.
