Im thinking of buying a Dell Laptop, and am wondering whether the RAM/HDD are able to replaced by common standard notebook componants?

Thanks

512mb is 229.50 NZD which is a bit steep, eh. I was wondering whether something generic would work, I was hoping to go to 1Gb too.

Yes. The user manual even tells you how to do it.
