524881 2007-02-15 11:41:00 you might be on the three kings exchange, which is on mtalbert rd, near cnr with hillsborough.

Ah, thats probably the one. Best way to measure distance would be with google maps/earth probably.

I am slightly paranoid about how much the wiring in my house could be affecting it (without much justification). Is it possible that the builder wired my house in a crappy way? Built around 1999 I think.

524882 2007-02-15 22:27:00 Another question: when we are saying "exchange", what exactly are we talking about? A building? A box? BakugekiNZ (9752)
524883 2007-02-15 22:31:00 Look up the phone numbers of shops near the two exchanges.

The one that matches the first few digits of your phone number will indicate which exchange you are connected to.

A building - in fact, the Three Kings exchange and the Mt Roskill exchange look the same from the street.

They all used to have "Telephone Exchange" written on the front untill one of the Springbok tours turned nasty.

524885 2007-02-15 23:11:00 Hi,

Like everyone, I am getting a lackluster internet service. I have read countless times that distance to the exchange is one of the factors. In addition, something in the herald mentions that if you are more than 2km from an exchange, you are not going to benefit much or at all from ADSL2.

My question is: how do I find out where my exchange is?
(In case anyone lives nearby, I am quite near to Mount Roskill Grammar School, Carr Road sort of region)

Not everyone. My speed is good, I guess it depends on how many people aound you are sharing the exchange.

524886 2007-02-16 01:02:00 Numerous causes for slow internet:

Wiring (but probably not)

Too much traffic

Far from exchange

Over cap

Old equipment in exchange
