Then you can click the organise icon somewhere at the top .. you can use the create a rule using a wizard. Such as when you check email .. when it arrives from EMAIL A it gets moved into FOLDER A. If email is received to EMAIL B it gets moved to FOLDER B.

525825 2007-02-20 18:54:00 I'm not sure if I explained myself clearly, most of the time Person A emails me, so in theory I'd set a rule so that all of Person A's emails go to my folder .

But occaisonally Person A does email my partner too!

Someone mentioned setting a rule so that Person A's email goes to both our folders, but that's not what we want .

So I'm going to try the suggestion about adding shortcuts on the desktop, one for each profile . Just need to find the path for each of our profiles!

You can set up rules so that any emails sent TO you, go into a certain folder, and any emails sent TO your partner go into another folder. That way it'll always catch the correct email and put it in the correct place. This is assuming you're not using identities.

525827 2007-02-20 20:18:00 Forget about rules and extra folders- go to "Tools" then "E-mail accounts" and set up a second account [I have four accounts]

Then each e-mail will go straight to the correct place - that is - it's own inbox with whatever name you assign it.

You need to remember to change the settings in the Account Options area (down bottom of dialogue box).

Not sure about 2003. But I have 2 accounts without the rules, they all go into "inbox" and are mixed up. Maybe this is new.

Traditionally. Caffy, you set up the rule. If it goes into "Caffy's" email it gets moved to Cathy's folder. If it was sent to "Partner's" email address, it gets moved to "Partner's" folder.

Aahhh - haven't struck that version. I have Outlook 2003 [though I never use it, I'm a Thunderbird fan] 2003 has a seperate "Inbox" for each e-mail account.

Good point, I just thought about it and realised that it now makes sense .

But does Outlook recognise which email address I am using when I make the rule? i . e . what if we get two identical emails in the inbox (when a rule has not been set up for the sender yet) because we are part of a group distribition email list . I won't be able to tell which one was intended for me, and for him because BOTH our email addresses will be in the recipients list .

Say I accidentaly click on one of the two group emails that he would have received if he was using his own inbox and I set up a rule to come to my folder, and then from on all emails from that sender intended for my partner will come to my folder . . . . ?

I'm starting to sound more complicated now, aren't I? :D

525832 2007-02-21 04:45:00 It can tell from the recipient's email addy. Ie.. Caffy's or your partner's.

However if you and your partner was both recipient .. then umm .. not sure :D

525833 2007-02-21 04:46:00 I think as one pointed out in Outlook 2003 if you set up 2 email accounts you have the option of their own INBOX. This is something I don't have since I am using 2000.

So if you get the same email, and you and your partner is the same recipient. When Outlook checks for email for Caffy, its in her inbox. When it checks for new mail for your partner's it will be in his inbox. This is probably a feature you need and can use in 2003. At the end of the day you have one copy in Caffy's and one copy in your partner's.
