525417 2007-02-17 09:24:00 Hi All .
The computer has previously played CDs over the two attached speakers .

Today I installed an Imation Cyberlink PowerDVD 6 external unit . It plays the DVD picture but with no sound . I poped back to DSE & got an Audio cablt & plugged it into the DVD unit & the blue input socket on the back of the computer . Still no audio . Tried it in the Mic socket & nothing there either .

Now cannot play CD music in the usual CD drive .

Looking in "Sounds" says there is no Audio device .

What do I do now? Thanks . PJ:confused:

525418 2007-02-17 09:29:00 Has audio worked since you last ruined Windows?, I know after I reinstalled your OS I left it in your hands to install the drivers, did you do so?

Anyhow, one of three things have happened.

The Windows audio service has crashed, a reboot should fix it, If not then its more likely to be..

No driver...or

Hardware failure.

Nag me more, Thats they only way to get the personal service.

For now, Post the name/model of your motherboard (its listed on that printout you have, Brand is gigabite) and I'll find teh link to download the full suite of drivers.

I didn't think so either, seeing that it was a USB connection. But the instruction book asked for one. PJ

525425 2007-02-17 09:58:00 here we go, all the drivers.

www.gigabyte.com.tw

The first one is audio, I would also suggest getting the video (VGA) drivers listed down the bottom.

It will also pay to install chipset drivers, But seeing as it uses the Via chipset we can ignore the default package and get you a more up-to-date set, Ill be back with another linkage.
