| 527240 | 2007-02-22 21:16:00 | Have you noticed that you get better value for your money on orcon now that go large is gone. has xtra missed it's change to give users full uploads and larger caps? Why has it just reinstanted the 'old' plans. that is not very appealing to it's customers. you would think they want to retain it's customers are the go large slow download speeds. there is a comparison between xtra's old plans and orcon's plans, which shows you get better plans from orcon now.... www.geekzone.co.nz |

| 527241 | 2007-02-22 21:54:00 | Interested to know what you go large users are going to do now. Staying with Xtra or what is it ..... Orcon with Zeroshock for $49.95? | Nomad (952) | ||
| 527242 | 2007-02-22 22:06:00 | For $49.95 (with tolls) on Slingshot, you can get Max/128 speed with a 25GB data cap. That certainly has to be better than anything Xtra is now offering. | Cptn Hotshot (3904) | ||
| 527243 | 2007-02-22 22:27:00 | FYI, the new terms. Current clients can remain on it .. but its not available for new clients. What type of Internet usage is likely to be affected by traffic management on the Go Large plan? All of your traffic including web surfing, email, downloading, streaming, file sharing or gaming will be managed. This is to try to ensure our network performs as effectively and efficiently as possible for the majority of our customers. When does traffic management apply on the Go Large plan? Traffic management will be applied to the Go Large plan 24 hours a day. It will be more noticeable during times of network congestion or at peak times when it is applied more vigorously. Generally, peak times are likely to occur between 4pm and midnight each day. Although traffic management is an effective way of managing congestion, it won't remove it from our network or the internet entirely. During busy periods, there are still heaps of people surfing the web, downloading and emailing, so you are still likely to see some reduced speeds at these times. Network faults such as a cable break may also impact your internet experience. Who will be affected by it? If you don't download, view, or share lots of large files then it's unlikely the policy will ever affect you. And, if you do, all we ask is that you try and avoid big downloads during the peak hours of 4pm to 12am midnight. This policy shouldn't affect activity outside peak hours. How does the policy work? If we find that your Internet usage is very high and regularly affecting the service of our other customers, we may get in touch to talk about ways that can you can better manage your usage. If your usage continues to be very high after we've contacted you, we may then transfer you to a Fair Use 'Pool' where you will have to share a fixed amount of bandwidth with other users for 1 week. This period may be extended at our discretion if your usage repeatedly affects other broadband customers. Obviously, we don't want to have to do this, so we'd encourage you to take a few simple steps to avoid it. That way, the Fair Use Policy won't affect you and the rest of our broadband customers also get a fair go. |
