526554 2007-02-20 18:47:00 Like most people i been having sound problem. I re-installed my Windows XP sp1 after having a problem with my computer system. Before, the sound had been working fine but after the re-installation i lost all the sound. I been reading through other people's advices concerning my problem and tried everything. I re-installed my driver, as well as checked if it's a default, updated it and so on...The funny though is that; when i play a media software like Windows Media Player, a file appears to be playing fine only no sound comes out. Even in the system volume control, under the volume control the sound bars go up and down when i play a music file, which shows that they is sound but i'm just not hearing any.
I use SIS 7012 WAVE on board sound card

Help
U get me out of this one i shall thank you a million times.

526555 2007-02-20 19:31:00 Drown Mugabe and all your problems will go away. Greg (193)
526556 2007-02-20 19:39:00 You're not using a voicemodem too are you??

Go to Sounds and audio devices in control panel and the audio tab whats the default device on?? The soundcard or something else?

I suggest if u have nothing worth saying Greg, dont say it.

526557 2007-02-20 23:40:00 Like most people i been having sound problem.

Most people? What gives you the idea anyone else has a sound problem? I don't.

Have you checked its not something silly like being muted?
pctek (84)
526558 2007-02-21 02:14:00 I'd be looking at Speedy's solution.

Also, just check that your speakers are plugged in to the right hole. If your computer thinks the sound is working fine, then it probably is, it'll be a setting somewhere that has been missed.

Oh and what pctek said, I've seen that problem a few times too, the little tick in the mute box trips a few people up.

526559 2007-02-21 02:43:00 Also, make sure that you are correctly using either Digital or Analog output to the speakers..that screws me up sometimes too....one will not work with the other... SurferJoe46 (51)

BeeKay (11906)
526561 2007-02-22 07:24:00 Well its either the sound is mute its disabled in the BIOS.

Or its dead.

Are u sure you got the right drivers?

Whats the brand/model of your motherboard, do u know?

Did u reinstall Windows as well?? Look in device manager, anything showing a ? or ! or X?

Find the soundcard in your programs list, and go to the advanced options and check on the output...digital or analog.

I don't know your personal device...so you may have to do a little searching here...but Soundblasters (SB-series) have an advanced tab in the mixer area...check it out.

Here's a site for the driver if you wanna try that too...www.opendrivers.com
