526798 2007-02-22 07:09:00 Does DSE sell white flags? Renmoo (66)
526799 2007-02-22 07:17:00 Dunno the only thing I've brought from DSE is a printer and card reader, and theyre fine.

It'll most probably be better if u can find a USB (or PCI) adapter which can also act as an AP.

They are around, (usb ones), just not sure if DSE sell them.

526800 2007-02-23 03:00:00 So... there isn't really anything wrong with WEP eh? Renmoo (66)
526801 2007-02-23 06:04:00 Well, WEP is ok, but it can be cracked. It's not as secure as WPA/WPA2/WPA PSK.

BUT, if u still can't connect, you may need an AP/access point.

526803 2007-02-25 06:27:00 I am seriously thinking of doing what Mr Wetzyl has suggested to me - that is to leave the control of unauthorised usage of the computers to the hands of firewalls instead . In the event of someone gaining access to the wireless network, he or she will not be able to do anything because my firewall would be configured in such a way that only the IP addresses of the laptop and home computer are only allowed to connect to each other and use the Internet .

Or I am heading towards the wrong way?

Cheers :)

526804 2007-03-02 10:11:00 Anyway, that's what I will stick to.

Now my laptop has "successfully" connected to my home computer. The laptop connects to the Internet directly. My question is how do I get it shared? I have tried the following steps:

1) Selecting "Auto-detect LAN settings"
2) Enabling Internet connection sharing for Xtra dial-up connection on my laptop
3) Specified Windows Firewall to allow home computer to access the Internet via a gateway.

And I still can't access the Internet on home computer! I can ping both machines to each other. However, the home computer can't ping to an external website. Where have I gone wrong this time?

Cheers :)
