526750 2007-05-09 09:31:00 You DONT want to go with JUST WEP or WPA. Either can be cracked, its not terribly difficult. Change the WEP keys semi-frequently.
You DO want to enable something like MAC Filtering. This prevents any PCs not explicitly listed by yourself from even connecting to the AP, even if they break the encryption.

Hmmmm, some security is better than none at all, but you can go too far too (IMHO). WPK is usually enough. Even MAC filtering can be spoofed too.

526751 2007-05-09 10:54:00 I know I know.. Ive done it myself! Sadly, thats just part of being wireless.

Personally I wouldnt really bother with the pre-N-standard yet. Its nice and all, but realistically most people arent always sitting directly next to their AP (You know what I mean) to get the 108Mbps speeds, making it redundant. I find I usually connect to my AP at around 5.5mbps. YMMV.

And yes, SOME is definitely better than NONE :)
