I didnt do it this way, I did it in safe mode .

I had to delete the folders since Avast kept telling me I had Tenga a worm, and it was in one of the System Volume information folders . So, I decided to turn SR off and delete ALL folders on all partitions . Havent seen Avast pick up Tenga since .

:) By Crikey, Speedy, you have done it again!!

I was nearly at the stage of putting up with the extra weird hidden 8 Gb as I was on the last 'choose user / give admin control' deal as explained in the MS link you gave above . Finally I was able to see inside the System Volume Information folder and managed to delete 8 . 8 Gb ("6 . 7 Gb on disk") of System Restores .

Now there is only a slight discrepancy: 4 . 6 vs 4 . 5 Gb, and I can live with that . Should be able to make an Acronis drive image onto 4 or 5 CD's . Fantastic - then I can finally return the upgraded PC to the office .

As with many computer problems, once I managed to get full control inside the SysVol Info folder it seemed easy . But when it is new territory it can appear complicated .

Thanks once again, Speedy .

526080 2007-02-21 03:43:00 Acronis made the C drive image in less than 10 minutes and it fits on only 3 CD's. Sweet.! Strommer (42)

526082 2007-02-21 05:41:00 Acronis made the C drive image in less than 10 minutes and it fits on only 3 CD's. Sweet.!

But you possibly have a hidden partition.

"Now have to leave house. Back later. Thanks for your help. Was going to take pc into office now but will try to get this sorted - would be nice to get Acronis drive image on a few CDs; I may have buggered up the PC Company partition System Restore."

System restore in Windows is NOT the same as a hidden partition containing restore information.

How big is the Maxtor supposed to be from the PC Company?

Could you please leave the one problem in the one thread which I think will enable ALL people here to help you. At least I would not have to go back through your posts to find out what is going on before.

At least you have saved the DATA I hope.

So if I read this correctly you deleted "ALL folders on all partitions"

Do you mean you deleted ALL System Information Folders on all partitions?

If you actually deleted all folders on all partitions I guess you had to re-install your operating system. Of course the Tenga worm will not be there will it?

Problem is solved, Sweep, so I am not sure where you are at.

Thats it, I mean just the System Volume Info folders (The folders that deal with System Restore) ONLY, nothing else.

There's only one partition with Windows on it. The rest are updates / videos I've taken. Which are on separate hdd's.

Yes I know that, I didnt delete all folder/s / everything. Just the above.

No I didnt have to format the hdd and reinstall Windows.
