526564 2007-02-22 21:42:00 I re-installed my Windows XP sp1 after having a problem with my computer system.

After a reformat? The motherboard drivers will need reinstalling as well, if you haven't already done so.

Otherwise, where did you get the sound driver from? On a CD that came with the computer or from the internet?

526565 2007-02-22 21:47:00 Not ALL soundcards have an digital or analog option .

CD's do, but this has nothing to do with it.

Remove / uninstall the drivers u have and try getting these drivers (www.sis.com)

Click on XP if u use this Audio Driver and Sis 7012.

And if this zip file has an exe file in it, dbl click on it install the drivers.

Well..the soundcard came in with the computer on motherboard and was pre-installed. They was no CD so i got a drive from the internet when i had to re-install the sound card. I got the drives from the SIS website. I already uninstalled the drive a million times and re-intalled just the same hoping it works but no luck...it appears to be fine even in DirectX Diagnostic, it says the drives works fine but no sound comes out...i'l try looking if it might be caused by the BIOS settings which i believe are on default and come back to u guys.

Well in that case, get one of these drivers (www.gigabyte.com.tw)

And like Foxy said if u reformatted u have to get the mobo drivers (which should be installed) before anything else.

The rest of the drivers are here (www.gigabyte.com.tw)

526568 2007-02-25 18:28:00 Ok i think my soundcard is working just fine although the sound doesn't come out the speakers. The problem might be the cable connections to the sound card i think...how do i check if the cables are correctly connected?? BeeKay (11906)

Change the inputs going into the soundcard and see which one gives u sound.

Green on the soundcard is line out this is what the speakers should be plugged into. Pink is a mic. Blue is line in.

Speedy...is that supposed to be a universal color code?

My onboard Dell card has

Black for rear speaker out
Green for line/front speaker out
Blue for line in
Pink for microphone in
Orange for subwoofer

This also matches my Enermax tower C-Media cards....those are the only ones I know about...but I thought that was pretty much universal code.

I can never figger out what those silly stamped-in icons represent and have memorized these colors....

AFAIK on more recent mobos, 5:1 onboard cards it is.

It maybe different for 7:1 onboard cards since there's 6 inputs not 3.

You may have 6:1 or 7:1 since you have black.

Looks like the 7:1 onboard cards, have black, orange, grey, blue, pink, and green inputs.

526572 2007-02-26 02:32:00 Just to clear this up for me.....

When you click on 'Sounds and Audio Devices' in the Control Panel, then go to the Audio tab, what does it have there under Sound Playback -> Default Device ?

Does it have your SiS soundcard, or your modem, or something completely different?

Have you tried uninstalling everything to do with Sound in Add/Remove programs, then reinstalling all the drivers from the Gigabyte Website (linked above) for your mainboard?
