Today at my flat we got our cable internet hooked up and put in a wireless router. So all the wireless works fine but I connected my mates switch to the router and then my comp to the switch but my comp cannot seem to find the router or something. It says limited or no connectivity. The router is a TP-LINK TL-WR642G and the switch is a BroNet AKS-3208.

I figured that a switch would work so im thinking tht my friends switch is just bung.

Can anyone please help me.

Just go directly into the rouoter and forget the switch.

Though you imply that the internet connection works, which would mean you have the correct network settings(?): Have you assigned IP addresses (or a block) to each computer on the LAN, within the router and in your computers network settings, or enabled DHCP in same?

526708 2007-02-21 20:27:00 Limited or No Connectivity means that your computer is not being assigned an IP address by the routers DHCP server.

Can you plug directly into the TP-Link router?

If you do, do you still get the error?

Check that your computer is set to automatically obtain an IP address.

Check that the router has DHCP turned on.

If you don't get the error when you plug into the router, then the problem lies between it and the switch and you. Check the cable between the router and the switch, you may need to swap it for a crossover cable.

What port on the router have you got the switch plugged into? And what port on the switch is the router plugged into?
