527940 2007-02-25 03:00:00 I have used a Canon Pixma iP3000 bubble jet printer for almost two years with a WinXP-SP2 OS, without any problems.
Suddenly, sometime in December 2006 the 'Preview before Printing" function stopped working. Reinstalling the driver from the original CD and installing the driver from the "www.canon.co.nz" website made no difference.
For a different problem I had to re-install WinXP-SP2 (over the top) and suddenly the problem had disappeared! However the next day I installed all the Updates and Patches of the last 2 years (Some 66!) and the problem was back!
I then ran the printer on another WinXP-SP2 computer, wich had no Updates and Patches installed since November 2006 And "Preview before Printing" was working OK.
So the question now is which Update or Patch causes this problem! I can then hopefully uninstall this Update or Patch.
If somebody else had this problem and found the answer, I would love to hear.

Another printing problem I cannot find the answer for is the sudden disappearance of the heading when printing emails (that is : sender, addressee, date, subject.) Is there a setting to control this? Or has this a similar cause?

527941 2007-02-25 06:00:00 Preview from what? Normally when previewing a document, its the program you have created or read the document with that does the preview. Like MS Word for instance.

Regardless you would have to install each update one by one and check preview to see at which point it stuffs it up.

Alternatively you could throw all the updates out, ensure your PC is protected by using a 3rd party firewall, antivirus and at least 2 antispyware products, preferably none of them sold by MS.

527942 2007-02-25 07:57:00 Sure, MS Word gives its own preview, but many other programs do not.
e.g. Outlook Express does not, and you don't know beforehand if pictures will require an extra page or not. You don't know if duplex printing is desirable.
Another example is the width of website pages: does it fit on A4 or is a reduction required ? So again you need the 'Preview before Printing"!
