| 527438 | 2007-02-23 15:13:00 | Good morning/evening/afternoon, I'm not sure where to start with describing the problem I'm having with my PC, I guess I'll start with what the current state is: At the moment when I try to start my PC, the "Safe Mode" dialouge appears but whichever option I choose to start Windows the same error occours, Windows begins to start but then I am zapped with a blue screen and the computer reboots, resulting in the same process begining again. As to the cause of this problem, well it's all my own fault. I changed the mhz settings on my monitor from 50 to 60 and the the screen became unviewable, I reset the computer so many times that it resulted in the Safe Mode screen coming up when Windows stars. I should also mention that my cd drive is broken also and I have no floppy disk drive. Is this problem fixable or will I have to bring the computer to someone who knows more than me? This isn't an easy task because I live in a rather small town in France and my French isn't good enough to explain all of this. Any help or advice really appreciated Dave |

| 527439 | 2007-02-23 15:54:00 | BSOD has many reasons for happening . . . but I think that Safe Mode will default to the lowest screen resolution anyway . . so I believe you are barking up the wrong tree with the idea that the resolution is what is giving you the BSOD . Without floppies or a CD-rom, I doubt that much can be accomplished . . . . you might have to get one at least going enough to perform a boot with either CD assist or Floppy assist . How about some more info on what you have for hardware and an OPSYS? That might help a little . BTW: "BSOD" = Blue Screen Of Death :horrified PS: . . I make house calls here from the US . . . and if you'll tell me what the town is in which you reside, I can make the trip well worthwhile for both of us . . . I can fix your computer, and also get a new wheel of Bleu Cheese for my larder . I will supply a free cd-rom and floppy drive if we arrive at an agreeable time/place/fee . |
