1411662 2015-11-20 02:54:00 My wife’s computer has had “Start.search.us.com” hijack her start page in both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

There are various fixes on the Internet none of which work for me.

Apparently it is a programme that should be able to be uninstalled by normal methods but neither Windows Uninstall or Revo can find it?

Malware Bytes, and Super Antispyware find nothing either and I’ve had a clean out with Ccleaner but still nothing.

I’ve reset the home page in both Internet Explorer and Firefox and that fixed Internet Explorer but Firefox was just changed back again.

Interesting though is the link for the Home Page doesn’t work and produces a 404 error which makes me wonder if we have only a partial install which maybe accounts for the uninstall programmes not being able to find it.

Any thoughts?

:thanks

1411663 2015-11-20 03:23:00 Try AdwCleaner toolslib.net then Junkware Removal Tool www.malwarebytes.org

See if these do the trick for a start

Just found this malwaretips.com

1411666 2015-11-21 03:53:00 Well, read the suggested articles Lawrence and ran the Malware programmes but no luck.

The home page remained “start.search.us.com” even though it only through a 404 error.

Soooo, I thought I’d try changing the Home Page to Blank which worked. I then changed the Homepage back to Mozilla Default and blow me down if that didn’t fix it.

I suspect SWMBO clicked on something and then realised what she had done and killed it before the programme could fully install. No doubt it has left a trail of rubbish, but for now her computer is working fine.
