Show me some proof

Labours mess. They left it to fester .
Influential Saudi invests in NZ, Labour bans his live sheep exports. Nat much later have to grease some palms to smooth it out so NZ can get a trade deal with Saudi
How is that so hard to understand. Govt did whatever was needed to try & get a trade deal, so we can sell more stuff & get some money into the country.

If it was a perfect world, this sort of thing wouldnt happen.
Its not a perfect world, if NZ wants to sell our stuff, we have to make some shady deals. Pay some people off, grease some palms, look the other way.

"In 2003 the Labour Government banned the export of live sheep after a disastrous shipment went wrong and 4000 sheep died en route to Saudi Arabia."
"Prime Minister John Key is in Saudi Arabia to try and kickstart stalled negotiations for a free trade deal between New Zealand and the Gulf states. Resistance from Saudi Arabia was a stumbling block to passing it.
The negotiations were almost complete in 2009, but an influential Saudi investor lost cash because of New Zealand's ban on live sheep imports, and the Saudis held a grudge."

That of course is the Capitalistc/National way of doing business, but it can't be openly admitted, even in this day and age of corruption, which is why National are always reluctant to release details.

It is another aspect of dirty politics.

1404289 2015-07-09 01:54:00 It is probably accepted that corruption in business deals is endemic in certain countries like Italy, China, India, but it will be a sad day when New Zealand is added to that list. Terry Porritt (14)
