| 1412047 | 2015-11-27 08:04:00 | With previous versions of Windows I was usually confident that when I clicked 'Shut Down' and then the screen went blank, the operating system had finished its work Now with Windows 10 I click to shut down, the screen goes blank, but the led on the front of the box flashes for about 30 seconds before I feel confident enough to turn the power switch off. Is Microsoft trying to reprogram me! What secret work is the PC doing after the screen blanks? | coldot (6847) | ||
| 1412048 | 2015-11-27 09:05:00 | Thats usually caused by windows installing something in the background. It can also also be a program, service or something in the system not shutting down fast enough, and windows has to keep working till it finally decides to shut down. Have also seen hibernation / Fast startup hold the shutdown time. When Windows turns off, its not really shut down fully (Its called hybrid shutdown.) unless the mains power is turned off. You can soon change those settings: www.tenforums.com |
