| 528377 | 2007-02-26 21:24:00 | Can someone recommend a program that will thoroughly scan a pc and show the drivers that need updating, and missing drivers. Please tell us if it is a freebie or how much the program costs. Thanks. | Strommer (42) | ||

Just don't get any / install any drivers from the Windowsupdate site. And just as long as whatever works, there's no need to update the driver for whatever. |

(Edit - oh I see you say to update from the site - guess you mean all hardware and software on a pc.) My motivation is that I still have not searched for a driver that may activate "video out" pn my desktop - ASUS P4P400 mobo. I am not thinking of the office pc I recently upgraded. Also, some PF1'ers may want a simple way to check their drivers without searching their pc. |

Even if it hadnt died the LAN was screwed, so was the modem that was plugged into the PCI slot lol.(The slot was was stuffed, I'm still using the modem in another mobo). If the hardware isn't on the cd, this usually applies to the video (if the video isnt onboard). Everything else for the mobo (LAN/sound/chipset,) should be on the mobo CD. If u have the Nvidia drivers (and they're installed, if this is what the videocard is), you have to configure it properly, BEFORE TV out will work, thru properties/settings/advanced on the desktop. These look like the drivers (ati.amd.com) For that card. Once installed u have to go into the catalyst centre and select whatever the TV out is connected to, to see whatever. |

| 528383 | 2007-02-27 02:00:00 | I read of a program where it told you all the drivers that were currently installed on your computer and then told you which ones needed to be replaced, updated or were obsolete. I'll try and find this but I think it was actually in PC World or another computing magazine. | beeswax34 (63) | ||

| 528385 | 2007-02-27 07:49:00 | I dont understand the idea of fixing something that isnt broke yet... Since there is no video output, I thought that the drivers may be missing. Also, aren't there regular driver updates which make hardware and software perform better? |

| 528386 | 2007-02-27 07:59:00 | Does it show the name of the videocard if u right mouse on the desktop and properties/settings? or default monitor? Or if u go to display adapters in device manager, does it say the name of the card? If it doesnt the drivers arent installed. Yup the drivers are on the manufacturer's site. Or in the case of software, patches on whoever made the program. On their site. And yup, there are regular updates, they're usually on the manufacturer's site. Did u download/install the drivers from the link I gave? |
