| 528165 | 2007-02-27 03:48:00 | It could be a drive head alignment problem. Whenever I had trouble geting files between computers on floppies, doing a full format of the disk(s) on the destination drive, then writing them on the source computer. THis would cope with mild misalignment. 5.25" (and 8") drives had provision for adjusting the head alignment to conform to a master floppy. That was when a floppy drive cost $500. :D If the "new" drive won't read floppies from any other drive, you could try to get it replaced, depending on how "new" it is. :D |

Doesn't matter which as long as they are the same.".................this is totally irrelevant as to what file system is on each puter.......completely wrong direction to lead this person..........of COURSE floppies created on a ntfs system can be read on a fat32 and vice versa........ check the disk on another pc if it cant be read then it's probably died floppies do that quite often and are NOT to be trusted with valuable info......also ......is the light on permanetly on the floppy drive itself if so you have the cable backwards.... I was talking about the formatting on the disc not the computer. disc = ntfs comp = ntfs work disc = ntfs comp = fat32 not work disc = fat32 comp = fat32 work disc = fat32 comp = ntfs not work Not saying I am correct but the testing I did supported this, could have been another factor I was unaware of that caused the outcome thou. |

| 528167 | 2007-02-27 04:42:00 | Why would anyone want to put an NTFS file system on a floppy? Surely you would have to do something to achieve this. The default format will be FAT. I doubt very much that the poster's problem is caused by that. In particular, the problem is disks coming from an older computer, so it's unlikely to [b]have[/b[ NTFS. ;) |

Thought the OP might have done the same but if its a older computer, he just said old discs, not old computer, then thats not an option as you said . |
