| 528179 | 2007-02-26 14:25:00 | Try to run pathping www.google.com and look at hops that produce the packet loss. If packet grouping is disabled, try to check for the TCP/IP stack consistency. Download Windows 2003 Resource Kit Tools (www.microsoft.com) and run netdiag. To narrow the scope run netdiag /test:winsock /v Overlook the last section in the report in the output called The number of protocols which have been reported and count the number of protocol records. Normally there should be 10 to 12 records listed there. If you see more chances are your PC was infected with spyware which installed the TCP/IP layer. If so you can try to run netsh interface ip reset and reset stack settings. But still it's better to reinstall tcp/ip stack from scratch. To do that: 1. Open Start|Network Connections 2. Open properties for your LAN connection 3. On the General tab find the Internet Protocol entry, select it and click Install (Uninstall should be inactive so select Install) 4. In the Select Network Component Type dialog box select Protocol and click on the Add button 5. In the Select Network Protocol dialog click on the Have disk button 6. In the Install from disk box type C:\Windows\INF\ and click OK 7. In the next dialog box opened select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click OK 8. Wait while the protocol will be installed 9. Reboot the PC 10. With the fresh boot run netdiag again and check stack layers are now OK. |

| 528182 | 2007-02-27 12:41:00 | Which ISP are you with? I am with IHug and at present I am unable to connect to www.betanews.com due to the IHug DNS returning the wrong IP address. IHug keep asking me to do tracert's and give them the results which I have done and they say it is a problem with another site but I keep telling them of course it is because they are returning the wrong IP address. If I use the Paradise DNS all is well if a little slow. This has now been going on for two weeks with e-mails nearly everyday. Only once has it worked from IHug. If you know the actual IP address yourself then try just using that instead of the URL. |
