I dont think so. A USB port wouldnt have enough power to power it. Which is why u need a case with a power supply. |

No you cant with 3.5" drives, they always need a DC Power pack usually included with the enclosure.
I think you can however, run 2.5" drives off USB - as long as it is the only thing running on that USB channel. |

No, 3.5 inch drives need +12v, +5v and ground, hence a 4 pin power connector to the enclosure. a 2.5 inch drives only needs +5v and ground which USB is able to supply but all 2.5 inch enclosures come with 2 USB connectors to plug into on the PC cause a 2.5 inch drive draws ~1.2A and a normal USB port supplys ~500mA |
