2007-02-28 04:02:00 | I installed Azureus on my linux machine(Fedora Core 6). I went into the Add/Remove software options and installed it through that. The first time I started the program it loaded up and everything but now when I start it up again, its loads up and quits after a few seconds.. i googled it but got nowhere.... Anyone else with the same problem and managed to fix it. Please share. Cheers

2007-02-28 04:10:00 | If you start up Azureus from the command line, it should print out information to why it died which will help with the troubleshooting. Open up a terminal window and just enter in azureus [enter] and see if that tries to launch it. Azureus is a java application. Did you update anything to do with java recently? | Jen (38) | |

2007-02-28 08:01:00 | Hmm ... well I *think* it is Java related. Did some searching and the Java type that Fedora ships with can be a bit dodgy with Azureus. So, want to dive in the deep end without a promise this will fix it? :D Sun Java Installation (fedorasolved.org) Follow all the steps in this installation guide. Whenever they show a command to use, just copy their line and paste it into your terminal window. Only do one line at a time. It may look complicated but it should only take about 5 minutes (not counting the downloading). :) Let us know how you get on.

2007-02-28 10:17:00 | I followed the instructions but still azureus starts up and quits after a few seconds. Thats kool... No worries at all. I think i'll keep my downloading activities with windows, linux is startin to be too much of a pain in the butt. Plus the download speed is much faster in windows than in linux (maybe this is due to me not configuring linux properly..) Anyways thanks people... I'll be askin more questions on linux later since i m stuck with it for another 4 months..:yuck: | ronyville (10611) | |
2007-02-28 10:37:00 | Fedora Core is generally bleeding edge stuff and can be a bit unstable as a result. You may achieve a better result with a more stable distribution. I just decided to install and try Kubuntu on my notebook (I've been using SuSE for years so this is an interesting experiment). So far it has been very fast indeed but this is only my first boot after installation - I'll have to wait and see whether any problems arise. | TGoddard (7263) | |
