528778 2007-02-28 22:24:00 I didn't realise McAffee had any Vista compatible software out, is he running the XP version.

Symantic have just got theirs out, though I personally wouldn't touch it with a long pole, I also caution diving in to any new software before it was fully run in, especially security software. The problem being with AV and firewalls as opposed to your every day run of the mill apps, is that they require pretty low level access to the OS.

Lets hope the McSuckfee software works with Vista, because DELL pre-installed it with the O/S.....LOL

528779 2007-02-28 23:06:00 Yeah, as you quite rightly point out Speedy, the MS list is incomplete as to what actually works and to what degree something may work for any particular configuration .

The certified crowd pays there dosh, slaps in some DRM and a phone home (MS) trojan/rootkit and, gets accepted, right?

SM, McAffee and Nortons, it's a toss up which one is worse .

Heads Up: I see there is a critical vulnerability alert out on McCrapee, though I didn't look at the details . :groan:

528780 2007-02-28 23:08:00 Oh! and, can we come to a consensus as to whether it is "McSuckfee" or "McCrapee". Or is one enterprise [sic] and the other consumer ware? Murray P (44)

528783 2007-03-01 00:27:00 Looks like Jetico (http://www.jetico.com) which is also free, has just become Vista compatible too.

Altho, I wouldnt use it yet, as its still in beta.
