529227 2007-03-01 22:06:00 I'm told the Recycler folders (one per partition/hd) are remnants of Norton Utilities/Systemworks.

I've scoured my registry, unchecked read-only, cleaned all Norton stuff from C: and run both Norton_Removal_Tool and SYMCLN but these Recycler folders remain, with cryptic contents such as:

S-1-5-21-1220945662-1580818891-854245398-1004

Anyone have any tips to nuke these stubborn buggers?

Many thanks!

529228 2007-03-01 22:16:00 I dont think they're part of Nortons, coz I have them too, and I don't have any Norton programs installed.

It looks like if u delete them, they'll come back anyway.

It looks like they're part of the Recycle bin.

this (www.experts-exchange.com)

Has some info about it. (near the bottom)

529229 2007-03-01 22:28:00 Thanks Speedy. You're right...Recycler is part of NTFS (support.microsoft.com), nothing to do with Norton.
Problem solved - many thanks!

529230 2007-03-01 22:30:00 The Recycler folder is used only on NTFS partitions. The Recycler folder contains a Recycle Bin for each user that logs on to the computer, sorted by their security identifier (SID). pctek (84)
