| 529001 | 2007-03-01 02:59:00 | Unfortunately I tried the Vista Transformation Pack 6.0. I set a restore point before I downloaded it. Anyway, after about a day of using it (it was for a presentation) I reverted back to the restore point. Anyway, everything looked back to normal par my icons. They were still Vista icons so I read that I needed to download TweakUi to revert them back. So I downloaded it and used it and this is what my icons look like now: img.photobucket.com How do I get them back to Windows XP icons? |

| 529007 | 2007-03-01 03:25:00 | Yeah, i found this: " * Open Registry Editor and navigate to the following key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics] * In the right-pane, double-click Shell Icon BPP and set it's value to 16 * Close Registry Editor. " And I have no idea how to do that. We're not all computer geniuses here. |

Well I could've given it a stab, and perhaps put you crook, or, we could have waited for someone who knows the actual details of rebuilding the icon cache, or, we could have ignored your question, but we pointed you in the right direction instead. Is that ok? |

Is that ok? Well, once you read my above post you'll know why I came here instead of Google . Because sometimes instructions are aimed at people who know how to actually find a damn registry thingy and not at people like me . |

You just delete the Windows Icon Cache (in the WIndows/WNNT directory somewhere) and reboot . Windows then rebuilds the cache on start up . |
