| 528768 | 2007-02-28 00:37:00 | Does it work with Vista? | SolMiester (139) | ||
| 528769 | 2007-02-28 00:44:00 | It doesn't appear to be. Also just 32bit OSs and not 9x. | Murray P (44) | ||
| 528770 | 2007-02-28 00:48:00 | Looks like there will be Vista version out in March sometime. Not sure about 64bit. | Murray P (44) | ||
| 528771 | 2007-02-28 00:55:00 | Bugger!......Okay then, any free firewall thats works with Vista anyone!! | SolMiester (139) | ||
| 528772 | 2007-02-28 01:57:00 | I haven't been able to find one that works either, the nearest I have come is this which helps configure the Vista firewall Vista Firewall Control www.sphinx-soft.com without it configuring the Vista firewall is ridiculously complex, must be the way MS wants it ie. no easy control over outward transmissions. |

Snoopy, ta for that, didnt take in that sphinx controlled the Vista Firewall, thought it was 3rd party.......senior moment!! Anyway, the friend has McAffee, which appears to be crippling internet access. |

Anyway, the friend has McAffee, which appears to be crippling internet access. I didn't realise McAffee had any Vista compatible software out, is he running the XP version. Symantic have just got theirs out, though I personally wouldn't touch it with a long pole, I also caution diving in to any new software before it was fully run in, especially security software. The problem being with AV and firewalls as opposed to your every day run of the mill apps, is that they require pretty low level access to the OS. |

| 528776 | 2007-02-28 07:35:00 | That looks like a very useful list Speedy . Not wanting to rain on your parade but, can I point out that that seems to be an informal list with user contributions rather than anything that could be verified by rigorous testing, though user comment is always valuable . So, a bit of caution might be advisable, way better than a pock in the eye with a blunt stick though :thumbs: What took you so long anyway? :p |
