| 529869 | 2007-03-04 05:22:00 | I have a WinXP Pro machine that I needed to do a repair install. I erroneously used a Windows XP Pro Upgrade cd. It will now not accept the Product Key. Is there any way around this? |

| 529873 | 2007-03-04 14:10:00 | this as they've said is a repair INSTALL .......what you will need to do is to set the pc to boot from cd and then re-run your repair with the CORRECT cd....... hmm.......just noticed you said "I have tried to restart a repair install with a standard WinXP Prof cd: failed.".........wanna elaborate on this 'failed' ? |

| 529877 | 2007-03-05 04:33:00 | You could still start a new repair-install. Make sure you are using the right CD again (XP with SP1 or SP2). If the machine is starting at the point where you left it from your first attempt (product key input) then you are still in the middle of that repair-install. Boot to the XP CD and start a new repair-install (choose retry), this will start at the 'copying files' part first, then follow through to the end. If you have already done this, I'm sure you need to change CDs again to the write version (XP w/ SP1 or 2). Before anything - have a break and a coffee - it helps :-) |

| 529878 | 2007-03-05 07:16:00 | adapter: ahhhhh the break mmmmm the coffee alright your suggestion worked just fine. Although this went through ok the reason I started this process has not rectified. But because it is a different subject I will start another thread. Your assistance has been greatly appreciated. |
