| 529756 | 2007-03-04 01:40:00 | Im rather worried about an electrical buzzing noise, comming from my computer. The noise is completely different to what a fan makes. I've noticed that when i play 3d games, or in 3d apps, I hear a distinct buzzing noise comming from within the case. The noise is not apparant when i'm on a 2d desktop. the noise is of a rather high frequency definitely from an electrical component such as a I'm suspecting it may be my 6600gt AGP> because this has to do with when im in a 3d environment. when i open the side panel, the noise definitely comes from around the graphics card. not the PSU, not the hard drive or anything else. I've actually tried with another graphics card (9600xt), and the noise dissappears! specs is as follows: Athlon64 3200+ NewCastle. 2200mhz Asus K8V-MX socket 754. Xpertvision 6600GT- AGP. stock speeds. 1GB ADATA ddr400 80GB samsung spinpoint V80. Raidmax 400W PSU. So is this noise anything to worry about? is it normal for a graphics card to make such a noise? i've heard that lots of 800gtx's have this problem, but nobody seems to mind. the noise does get quite noticeable on BF2 and FEAR etc. The noise dissappears when i enter the menu! also wanting to know if anybody else have had a similar problem. thanks, for any help |

| 529757 | 2007-03-04 09:39:00 | ok, ELECTRICAL buzzing noises ARE NOT GOOD. put the 6600GT in another machine and see if it does the same thing. make sure it isn't the fan, blow/poke it and see if the noise changes. my asus 6600gt does not make electrical buzzing noises, and if it did i would be pulling it out pretty damn fast |
