2007-03-03 02:24:00 | Ah what exactly are u doing to create the shortcut?? Are you clicking on the desktop then right mouse / new / shortcut? Then typing in www.trademe.co.nz then giving it a name? Thats all u have to do. It should give u an IE icon, and u click on it, it'll go to trademe. What version of Windows are u using? It shouldn't be asking for a program if u put www (like above) in the shortcut.

2007-03-04 00:20:00 | Hi there , thanks for your reply. I have windows XP. I have tried what I have always done, gone to file when I have the page open, then send and shortcut to desk top, also I have right clicked to create a shortcut to desk top as well. These always worked in the past but due to some problems I had with my PC I had everything reloaded recently, thats when all these problems started. I tried your method but same. When I click on shortcut I get a box that asks me what programme I want to use to open the short cut, I selected explorer and also ticked use selected programme to open this file but it doesn't appear to remember. Help

2007-03-04 00:45:00 | Well whatever you're doing it's wrong. As I said if u want to put a shortcut to a website, you put in www.whatever.com etc. And if you want to put a shortcut to a program that you've installed, u go to its folder, and right mouse / create shortcut. Then drag it to the desktop or the quick launch bar. Get hijackthis in my sig below. Unzip it and put it in its own folder then run it, click on scan and save a log. Copy and paste the log here.

2007-03-04 01:33:00 | Log looks ok to me, it must be the way you're doing these shortcuts. Unzip hijackthis before u run it again tick these entries and tick fix checked. Close browser/s. O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_05\bin\jusched.exe - uninstall this and all versions of Sun Java, and get the latest version in my sig below. O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroFilterCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background - uninstall/remove this with this (www.dougknox.com) Which is from here (http://www.dougknox.com/) You dont need it and MSN Messenger they do the same thing. I would also install some kind of firewall.

2007-03-04 02:17:00 | Hi Speedy Gonzales, you will lose patience with me I'm sure but this is exactly what I am doing as you said, clicking on the desktop then right mouse / new / shortcut? Then typing in www.trademe.co.nz, then giving it a name? and still coming up with the same result as before, thanks for the othr bits though.

2007-03-04 02:38:00 | Open your internet browser and go to the webpage you wish to make a shortcut to, eg Trade Me. Arrange your browser window so that some of your Desktop is visible. Click on the web address in the address bar, hold down the left mouse button and drag to your Desktop. You should now have a shortcut on your Desktop - double-click it and see whether it opens your desired page.
