529502 2007-03-02 17:36:00 Morning all.

Got a new Acer 19" LCD monitor.

Taking it out of box, there's a thing stuck to is saying preferred resolution is 1920x1024 (or similar).

So I change my desktop to this, and everything kosher. Looks good.

But I plug my lappie in, and change it from 1280x1024 to 1920x1440, and a box flies accross the screen saying "Input Not Supported".

And what I'm looking at now is fuzzy compared to my desktop.

The max resolution on my lappie goes to 2048x1536.

Any assistance would be appreciated with this. I want to use my lappie mainly, but not looking like this!

Cheers
AB

The thought of drivers scares the hell outta me! Always had problems when I've mucked around with them....:horrified

529506 2007-03-02 17:58:00 Well reset your laptop to it's proper resolution.

Which would be? How do I know what is "proper"?

The lappie works fine on it's screen as 1280x1024, but looks like crap on the monitor.

Whereas the desktop looks great at 1920x1440....

529507 2007-03-02 18:06:00 Is this a wide screen 19"??

It looks like there's 2 AL1916W's, the AL1916W and the AL1916WD both support up to 1440x900 only. And both are WS (altho they look like the same monitor to me).

NOT what u posted. Which is why its saying it isnt supported, coz it isnt.

Is this (www.acer.com.sg)

the monitor?

And this (www.edencomputers.co.nz)

Not much u can do about it, but use it at 1440*900.

Hi Speedy, it's the first link. I bought the one with 5MS, not 8. Faster refresh rate?

How can I use it at 1440*900 when this isnt an option on my lappie? I'm right-clicking on desktop and changing it under settings....I presume this is correct? Should I be looking elsewhere???

Now thats a good ? :badpc: Thats right you got the right place . What other resolutions are there besides the one u tried?

You may have to get updated drivers (if there are any, and if u know what the videocard is on the laptop), whether or not it'll give u the 1440x900 option is another matter .

Whats the colour quality on? 16 or 32 bit?

Altho I dont think this will make any diff .

529511 2007-03-02 18:48:00 Well, I think the only other option is to update the drivers, see if they've got the 1440x900 option.

Or you'll have to use 1280x1024. Or don't use the LCD on the laptop.
