tu tut tu!!!

A lot of games will not run on Vista. Most games will not run well on Vista. Both Fact.

Did anyone suggest AMD rather than Intel? Check the benchmarks--AMD is faster for the money, especially for gaming.historically yes, but the latest models no, they are neck and neck right now, intel leading with performance just barely, and amd leading in price

The 2GB ram is probably the most important change that will affect performance.true, ASSUMING the cpu is up to spec and the graphics aren't failing

1) Which program should I use? I'm thinking go with Nvidia because it's a known brand?
2) Do they both start up on start up?
3) Can you drag icons across to the other screen?
4) How do you choose which programs to run on which screen? (EG MSN only on one screen etc, is it possible?)
5) What happens when you run a full screen app, like a game or movie?

1) nvidia has everything you need automatically installed when you do your video card drivers, but by all means give ultramon a go if you want to run two of the same thing
2)yes
3)yep
4)put it where you want it, you can drag/stretch windows across both screens just like icons, but if you maximize or go into full screen mode (press F11) it'll only fill one screen
5)it'll only fill one screen, unless you tell it to do otherwise. i find for some fullscreen games which use different resolutions to your desktop the other screen may change res with it depending on game. dunno if ultramon does this. only minor inconvenience when something important moves out of view(just minimize and move it)
