Use Ultramon to configure your dual screens

529974 2007-03-07 02:03:00 Yeah but imo that looks kinda dumb.

I want a primary screen (19" ws) and a secondary screen (either 15" or 17") and have the primary one centered on my desk and the secondary one off to the side a little.

that may be good for your use, but for gaming you really want a centred primary, and the secondary need only be that, secondary, less important.

i tried it with the taskbar stretched across both screens but hated it. i find my setup better for what i do, with two seperate desktops which i can work between. i can still stretch windows across both but rarely need/want to.

basically wolfforest, try the different settings and see what you like best, you may even come back with a third opinion/preference;)

me or solmeister? i'm sure we both know a thing or two. number one is make sure both monitors will plug into your video card, otherwise you'll need a VGA->DVI adapter like me:thumbs:

529978 2007-03-07 08:15:00 What happen to the edit button?

Anyway, do these speakers:

Need a soundcard? I always thought to run 5:1 speakers you needed a soundcard?

You need to get USB speakers to do without the soundcard or you can get a USB sound adapter with analog mic input and speaker outputs.

Did anyone suggest AMD rather than Intel? Check the benchmarks--AMD is faster for the money, especially for gaming.

The 2GB ram is probably the most important change that will affect performance.

By the way, a lot of games won't run on Vista, and you can get some good deals on computers which have XP loaded, and if you get a free Vista upgrade certificate with it, your covered when/if Vista improves.

Which question, thought we had covered them all?
SolMiester (139)
529981 2007-03-07 08:44:00 1) Which program should I use? I'm thinking go with Nvidia because it's a known brand?
2) Do they both start up on start up?
3) Can you drag icons across to the other screen?
4) How do you choose which programs to run on which screen? (EG MSN only on one screen etc, is it possible?)
5) What happens when you run a full screen app, like a game or movie?

3) depending on how you configure the monitors yes
4) ? - Your choice of course
5) Games and movies will only use 1 monitor, unless the game can be configured to use 2
