Any upgrades have to be from the site above. I'd like to upgrade/change a few things in this pc I am getting built but also keeping the cost down. So for example, I don't want to change to HD to a 700gb HD or the video card to 2gb etc. Just some minor stuff that will make it perform slightly better.

I thought of changing the E6300 to a E6400, is this a good choice? If not what else can you suggest (Remembering only minor things/upgrades)?

Also, how would a soundcard impact the speakers listed above?

529924 2007-03-04 06:40:00 I meant to post this at the help forum to start with, so nevermind this thread :)

Although you can answer that question in the title of this post if you want ^_^

529926 2007-03-04 06:54:00 Change the DVD writer to a lightscribe model. Shouldn't be more than about $10-$20 difference.

Change RAM to DDR2-800

Maybe a better CPU fan and overclock the E6300.

Sorry, couldn't help myself, too easy

What are you using the puter for primarily?

Bit light on the vid card, unless your not planning getting any of the latest games wiz bang over the next 6-12 months. I'd look at that rather than a sound card, unless you're really in to your music or movies.

Not sure re the CPU, is there such a difference for another $100- odd? How about a E4300 if you're interested in overclocking, you'll clock to better than the E6300 quite easily without having to go for (too) specialised cooling and has potential to go much higher. Again I'd tend to go for video and stuff another stick of RAM in there.

I'd tend to put a better PSU in and lower the Wattage. e.g. Enermax or Silverstone. Which probably means ditching the case, unless qmb will supply without the PSU.

On a slightly different note, have you heard the rumbling in respect to qmb's service?

I'm thinking of changing the RAM to 2gb anyway (What difference does DDR2-800 do?)

And planning on adding Silverstone Element ST50EF-PLUS ATX12V 500W Power Supply and how the hell do I overclock it?

529930 2007-03-04 07:01:00 I'll ignore the first comment :P

Computer will be used for everything really. Bit of gaming, music, internet, and anything else a computer can do.

Bit light on the vid card? What's that suppose to mean? Upgrade to 512?

After talking to someone else, I think I might add another 1gb of Ram and change the PSU to Silverstone Element ST50EF-PLUS ATX12V 500W Power Supply (As suggested by someone else)
Can't they change the fans over into the case I want?
Also I have no idea how to overclock.

Well I had a hand building this up and QMB was suggested and they seem fairly cheap so why not? And if you're referring to the thread on this forum then well...everyone has their opinion.
