529748 2007-03-03 20:43:00 My Xtra (Go Large) download speed is getting unbearably slow. May have to change to another ISP since Xtra is not doing (or can't do) anything about it. Problem is, my 1 year contract with them is only 6 months old. Do you think that I can get away with it? Have not yet contacted Xtra to discuss this matter.

I have Xnet in mind. Do you guys think that Xnet will be faster than Xtra? Comments from Xnet customers will be appreciated. And, how about Xnet's support team, should I encounter a problem? Are they efficient?

Cheers

529749 2007-03-03 21:09:00 However, if relevant customers are not satisfied with the current performance of the GO LARGE plan there are other options available:

* change to an alternative Broadband plan

* Cancel the Xtra broadband service. Relevant customers can choose to cancel the GO LARGE Xtra Broadband account. If you are on a 12 month term contract no early termination fees will apply. If customers choose to cancel their broadband service and they have incurred any additional Xtra Broadband costs, including modem or set-up costs, we will refund these to them.

There are lots of reasons for slow internet.
Most of the related to what Telecom is doing or not doing in the case of crap exchanges.
So moving wouldn't help in that case.
However Xnet are great, decent helpdesk too with people with brains.

529751 2007-03-04 00:56:00 Xnet helpdesk is great.
Though if your switching because of speed issues, there is no guarantee that switching to Xnet will make a difference.

If you do decide to join em, PM me so I can send you my reference details :D

529752 2007-03-04 04:07:00 My main concern is speed. If there is no guarantee of a speed improvement, then I have to think twice before switching over. Xtra is OK other than this SPEED issue. Does it also mean that we have to wait and wait indefinitely at Telecom's mercy to catch up with the rest of the world for high speed Internet??? So, we can only compare (compete) with those 3rd world countries as far as Broadband high speed Internet is concerned :(

529754 2007-03-11 04:52:00 Xnet doesn't tie you to a contract so if you tried them, and it didn't improve, then you could go back to xtra. supergran (108)
529755 2007-03-11 08:18:00 What is your national speed like compared with international?

I'm on Go Large and I get 3376kb/s from Zeus and only 357kb/s from Los Angeles.

If you are slow locally, changing to Xnet is not going to make any improvement.
