| 530366 | 2007-03-06 09:00:00 | Hi Queenie, Take a bow, you've done everything pretty much right! Bollocks martnz, and don't be patronising. Didn't you read all of this thread? Unfortunately Queenie did what most people would do, and that's run for a cloth to mop up the water. That was precisely the WRONG thing to do, and by the time she got back the water had penetrated far enough to initiate a shutdown. That may have been a protective response, or a catastrophic failure, only time will tell. The correct process is to invert, kill power, remove battery then dry out. This minimises damage and gives the best hope for recovery. Second best hope is insurance. Cheers Billy 8-{) Afterthought: Pure water is an insulator, not a conductor (it has been used to cool transmitting tubes running at thousands of volts) and even your average tap water is not going to conduct heavily at low voltages so hopefully the shutdown was software driven by a combination of small voltage leaks. There is no mains power anywhere near the laptop if the power supply is a remote box so there's hope yet. |

"Right, then! All we needed here to complete this scenario was another invasion of some Huns and to have Manuel sounding the alarm . . . he's from Barcelona, you know? That would've completed it all . . . right? . . . Now get on with it!" |
