| 530711 | 2007-03-06 21:25:00 | Help! Please! My wired LAN of 3 machines (2 x W2k 1 X XP) came to a halt. I've fiddled with everything I can find to re-establish communications. Now, on the network, Only printers and scheduled tasks show for each machine. Drives are all set to "share", but no machine on the network can see any of them - even drives on the same machine. Can some one offer a solution before I tear the remaining hair (one left) from my head? Desparately Eric | ericbbh (11965) | ||
| 530712 | 2007-03-06 21:33:00 | You're not sharing the whole hdd on each are you? Any firewalls installed on any of them? And I take it you're using an ethernet hub I would check the workgroup names and the ips under the LAN/properties/TCP/IP on each too. And if theyre on the net, what are u on? dialup or adsl or other? |

See if you can get two to communicate. If you use DHCP, turn it off and assign fixed IP addresses. (The thought occurs that if you do use DHCP, the order of powering up computers might make a difference). |

| 530716 | 2007-03-11 05:00:00 | Thanks for all your responses. It turns out that although the drives were checked for sharing, I had to "unshare them" and then mark them for sharing again. I suppose it makes sense to BG, but not much to me. I still don't know why ti all wen down in the first place either. But hey! The sun's shining and the network's sharing! | ericbbh (11965) | ||
