530003 2007-03-04 13:52:00 Have found 7 copies of a "hidden" windows system file - all are exactly the same size (2 GB), created at the same time and date (on windows xp sp1 install) and named 0, 2, 4, 6, 9, s, y.
Can any of these be removed?

530004 2007-03-04 14:14:00 sound's very odd .......exactly WHAT is this file name and type ? and wheres it hiding ?......xp usually only uses about 1.5gb on install so to have 14gb of 'hidden' files .......and that being seven versions of the same file soun'ds peculiar at the least drcspy (146)

530008 2007-03-04 22:18:00 Or get hijackthis in my sig below. Unzip it and put it in its own folder first.

We'll see what else shouldnt be on your system.

530009 2007-03-04 22:33:00 Also can you recall what computer activity you were doing on the date/time these files were created? Greg (193)
530010 2007-03-04 23:31:00 files deleted, system shut down and restarted several times and all apps opened and used with no ill effects. those files appeared immediately after clean install of win xp pro sp1 on a new harddrive. can only think they were installation files. had previously checked them for malware, virus etc but were clean.
thanks again
