531471 2007-03-09 07:07:00 When I download from Firefox I get 200-250kpbs but as I'm downloading from Limewire or something else (Wow) I get nothing higher than 40kpbs (40 if I'm lucky)

So I'm wondering is there any programs or w/e that speed up downloads, or any hidden tweaks I can make to speed it up?

531473 2007-03-09 07:44:00 Two main reasons:

1) Your ISP may throttle the speed of P2P ports.
2) P2P download speeds are usually slower than HTTP and FTP downloads anyway because you are limited by the combined upstream speed of uploaders divided by the number of people downloading - nothing like the capacity of a good webserver.

531474 2007-03-09 07:48:00 I'm with Xtra, on Go Large (Yes- I'm getting off it soon)

I know P2P d/ls are slower but I'm not sure if this is P2P or directly from a website.

I tried d/ling it from gamespot.com and I got the same kinda speeds - 4-10kbps...

There must be a program that speeds up downloads?

Getting 200-250kpbs on Go Large with a normal download is good!!, I only get 170KB/s + or = that :(

Try a download manger, part from that there is not much else you can do part from stop using p2p & just use http & FTP download

531476 2007-03-09 08:59:00 Yeah I'm downloading from a website now, getting 70-140 downloading 3 files (120-500mb) which is pretty good...But what can I use to get a lot more from website downloads? What's a good download manager to use? --Wolf-- (128)
531477 2007-03-09 09:02:00 Port-forward where relevant for your apps.
Try encryption - Specifically with the likes of uTorrent, find a torrent that has a lot of seeds (I frequently use ones with 30,000+ seeds / leechers)
Try NOT using standard ports
Use a multi-threading download program like FlashGet for http / ftp etc
Try something as a 'benchmark test', like Gaim from: http://gaim.sf.net Use the Australian "OptusNet" mirror - That frequently maxes out my connection when downloading!
Try downloading from local / nearby (geographically speaking) mirrors instead of ones 3/4 the way around the world

Use U Torrent and then search U Torrent tweaks in Google.

Get off Xtra if you have any alternative.

531479 2007-03-09 09:56:00 Fresh download is a download manger that make multiple connections to the file at the same time increasing the download to your full bandwidth, if the server isnt too overloaded with connections. SolMiester (139)
