| 531002 | 2007-03-07 07:12:00 | I am trying to update my windows xp sp2. I keep getting an error message 0x8007041D. I've tried a few hints that I found on google, but none have worked. Has anyone come across this error? solution? Thanks...windows xp sp2. Thanks pete |

Click Start and Run, type Regsvr32 wuapi . dll in the Open box and click OK . 3 . Click Start and Run, type Regsvr32 wuaueng . dll in the Open box and click OK . 4 . Click Start and Run, type Regsvr32 wuaueng1 . dll in the Open box and click OK . 5 . Click Start and Run, type Regsvr32 wucltui . dll in the Open box and click OK . 6 . Click Start and Run, type Regsvr32 wups . dll in the Open box and click OK . 7 . Click Start and Run, type Regsvr32 wuweb . dll in the Open box and click OK . 8 . Click Start and Run, type Regsvr32 jscript . dll in the Open box and click OK . 9 . Click Start and Run, type Regsvr32 atl . dll in the Open box and click OK . Once you have completed the above mentioned steps, try to connect to the Windows Update site and try to download the Updates, if issue still persists then try suggestions given below . . . > Suggestion 2: *********** 1 . Click Start/ Settings and choose Control Panel . 2 . Choose Network and Internet Connections and then choose Internet Options (or go straight to Internet Options in classic view) . 3 . Click the Connections tab . 4 . Click the LAN Settings button . 5 . In the Automatic configuration frame uncheck "Automatically detect settings" and uncheck “Use automatic configuration script” 6 . Click OK and then OK again to close the window . See if you can access Automatic Updates, if the issue stays after completing the steps above then, please try the next suggestion . Suggestion 3: *********** 1 . From the main toolbar in Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options . 2 . Click Security . 3 . Click Trusted Sites Zone . 4 . Click Sites . 5 . Clear the Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone check box . 6 . Use the Add button next to the Add this Web site to the zone box to add the following sites: http://* . windowsupdate . microsoft . com https://* . windowsupdate . microsoft . com http://download . windowsupdate . com 7 . All else loaded ok. thanks again....will keep at it pete Copy and paste the entries I posted to start/run and press enter. You'll have less chance of putting in the wrong filename. Its atl(L).dll not ati(I).dll and its wucl(L)tui.dll not wuci(I)tui.dll, which maybe why it couldnt find it. You typed it in wrong. |

Always get a message, previous to main error message, that files are missing .It downloads for a few seconds, then main error message. Could I try reinstalling windows?Do you loose data this way.Any other suggestions or should I wait till I can afford Vista? Thanks again pete |
