531461 2007-03-10 05:21:00 An interpretation, please, of valve/steam folder - for those of us who don't recognise the phrase. It's anti-cheat and Internet interconnectivity software for a range of online computer games. Greg (193)
531462 2007-03-10 06:05:00 Thank you, Graham.

Thank you too, Graham, especially liked the "it's a syntax thing."
So restrained.

531463 2007-03-10 07:21:00 This all makes no sense at all to me - new drives are so cheap that you could get 320 gigs for about $180, why would you spend five minutes trying to organise what would now be considered a tiny drive. My Mp3 collection alone takes up more space than the entire size of that drive.
For much the same reason that on my lawn is a small birdbath, and the lake remains at Taupo. Bigger is sometimes not better. Ask the small man with a massive mother in law (That is a Macintosh phrase, it certainly isn't PC.) :help:

LOL, very funny, thanks for the laugh.

It makes no sense at all to me why you'd discourage a young gamer - possibly still at school - from trying to get the best he can with what he's got.
That's what this forum is about.

His question has brought useful replies for others wanting to save space. The drive size is immaterial.
Your only reaction is 2 posts telling him to spend on a bigger one.
Your profile says you're 46, so maybe you can spend what you want at the drop of a hat. Not everyone can - or wants to.

531466 2007-03-10 10:27:00 Its been mentioned before, give ccleaner a run. Rob99 (151)
531467 2007-03-10 17:52:00 I used ccleaner.

And thanks Laura, if everyone missed my earlier post I said I AM BUYING A NEW PC SOON. So why would I buy a bigger hardrive for my laptop now?

And look where this topic has got me:

I freed up roughly 15-20gb of space

So thanks to those who helped out.

531469 2007-03-11 05:44:00 This thread gave me a laugh 2.

And I agree with Laura. It's been educational and amusing. Once you've got your giant new drive you can fill that up to the brim 2. And do the exercise all over again.;)

531470 2007-03-11 06:12:00 Well I'll chip in, I recently needed to do the same thing, i used a utility called Disk pie to find out what was taking up the space, it was quite an eye opener as to what was in some directories even though the programs themselves were small Morgenmuffel (187)
