If you put the noapic in here, it *should* solve your problem (assuming this is your problem). This is my grub.conf (menu.lst) below as an example. You need to find the kernel line which has your latest kernel on it. Your grub.conf will be different to mine. # grub.conf generated by anaconda # # Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file # NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that # all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg. # root (hd0,0) # kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/hda5 # initrd /initrd-version.img #boot=/dev/hda default=0 timeout=5 splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz hiddenmenu title Fedora Core (2.6.18-1.2849.fc6) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-1.2849.fc6 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet noapic initrd /initrd-2.6.18-1.2849.fc6.img title Fedora Core (2.6.18-1.2798.fc6) root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6 ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet initrd /initrd-2.6.18-1.2798.fc6.img title Other rootnoverify (hd1,0) chainloader +1 |

| 531430 | 2007-03-13 18:55:00 | Nope, that "noapic" thingy didnt work but guess what .. after i undid the changes to the menu.ls.. and rebooted the pc. now my networking doesnt work.. cant ping any ip or the router.. error meassage " network is unreachable", the eth0 status says "inactive" and when i try to activate, error meassage "configuration for eth0 not found". So i created a new device "eth1", with Static IP, it doesnt allow me to do DHCP. So got the networkin goin on again. Evenif i delete all the devices and create a new one "eth0" with dhcp addressing... it doesnt work.. error message "configuration for eth0 not found" DAMN YOU LINUX. .. lol I wonder if you have had as many problems with your machine as i have had in just 3 weeks. :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: |
