2007-03-09 18:49:00 | If you unplug PCs 4 and 5 do you get internet on 1,2 and 3? I suspect that something screwy has happened to PC4 while you were trying to get it to bridge to PC5. So long as your Router is connected to the internet, and it is handling all the DHCP (giving out Ip addresses) and your PCs are all set to obtain an IP address automatically, then it should 'Just Work'. If unplugging 4 and 5 makes 1,2 and 3 work, then check the network settings on 4 (and 5 too), or just run the Network setup wizard and tell it that your internet connection is LAN or through another computer.

2007-03-11 05:29:00 | pcs 1 2 and 3 always see the internet and the network. pc 4 does if its plugged into the router. if i plug the hub ionto the router and then pc 4 and 5 into the hub it sees all the computers on the network, but pc 4 and 5 do not get internet.

2007-03-11 09:34:00 | if i plug the hub ionto the router and then pc 4 and 5 into the hub it sees all the computers on the network, but pc 4 and 5 do not get internet. If you temporarily unplug (say) PC 3 & plug 4 & 5 directly into the router, does that fix the problem for 4 & 5? If not, I suspect that PC 5's LAN settings are the problem - for example, conflicting with 4's. Using the hub attached to the router should work transparently, so I'd expect the same problem to manifest with 4 & 5 connected to the router.

2007-03-11 09:51:00 | so should i have all the pcs (including 4 and 5 which are plugged into the hub) set to auto dchp etc?? | almunro (7531) | |
2007-03-11 12:27:00 | look at the settings for one of the working computers, and use on the one not working. NOTE: if the IP is set manually make sure the last digit is different to all other computers and less than 254, if all are set to obtain automatically do this, I am guessing the DNS settings are incorrect.

2007-03-11 21:38:00 | Take out the second Nic card from PC4 . Set the IP address and DNS setting for the Nic cards on both PC 4 & 5 to Automatically Assign . It doesn't matter if they are plugged into the router or the hub . If an old hub you may have a certain port on the hub that is set for uplink . If you have this on the hub make sure you use this port for the cable between the hub and router .
