Is this Nortons/Symantec AV program actually working?

Get this too (siri.urz.free.fr)

And follow the info on the site. See what it brings up.

Is it still freezing and does alt-ctrl-del open now?

530992 2007-03-09 00:49:00 Ctl - alt- del works fine unless the comp freezes.

No more freezing probs so far. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for all the help.

530993 2007-03-12 20:36:00 I spoke too soon. I think I have a power supply problem. On starting, the computer runs for about 2 secs before shutting off again. No time to even worry the bios! I did install a 520W psu 2 weeks ago.
Any ideas?
What are the symptoms of the cmos battery dying?

530994 2007-03-12 20:44:00 Might be the CPU overheating, if its turning off after 2 secs. It does this to protect the CPU, so it wont fry.

Try taking the side of the case off, and turn it on...If u have a spare fan, point it towards the CPU (not too close). See if it turns off then...

Also make sure the CPU fan / and other fans are spinning.

530995 2007-03-12 21:38:00 Hi, i installed a new zalman cpu cooler along with the psu. It doesn't get above 50 degrees, no matter how hard it is working.
I am stumped, as it wouldn't start at all last night, but this morning, started first pop and has been going for over 2 hours including a full system scan for a bit of a load test.
Just waiting for it to die again now!
