531524 2007-03-09 09:57:00 Hey im trying to reformat my computer at the moment, and I have the Windows XP Disk in the drive, im just wondering. How can I boot up windows through the disk when I start up my computer so I can reformat my computer properly??? Idiotica (11950)
531525 2007-03-09 10:04:00 Windows CD in the drive, change the BIOS to boot from CD Rom instead of hard drive (it may already be set that way), when the message comes up 'press any key...." do so, window install starts and from within the setup programme you can delete the partition, re-create and format. 531526 2007-03-09 10:04:00 If you want to reinstall - it will give you the option to wipe everything as you go through the install process. You have to reboot with the CD in the CD drive to kick off the install and change to boot from CD in the Bios . Back Up anything you don't want destroyed first. Twelvevolts (5457)

Will usually tell you as you reboot - but is often done by pressing the Delete key soon after the reboot starts.

Depends on the computer.

Look for something like "first boot device". Change it to CD if it isn't that already. I've never seen a computer that didn't have it, well not a recent one anyway.
