| 530981 | 2007-03-07 06:56:00 | Hi, My XP pro system has decided to random freeze whether idle or surfing. Symptoms differ at times with a normal freeze on the last page I was viewing (ctl-alt-del doesn't work) or the screen going blank with the comp still whirring away in the background. With the last one, the screen says that it isn't recieving any info. I thought it might be heat related so beefed up the cpu cooling, then it happened again after only four minutes, no time to generate heat. Then I thought maybe the psu was lacking. Now have 520W surging the system, still locks up! Have scanned for all the nasties with adaware, spybot, nortons etc. Nothing found. My last thoughts are driver related. Any other ideas?? Cheers Logan |

| 530982 | 2007-03-07 08:03:00 | Have you tested your RAM? Faulty RAM can cause freeze-ups. If you have more than one stick of RAM, try removing one at a time to see if it occurs with a particular stick. Alternatively you can download memtest86 and run that. Post back if you require help with running memtest86. :) |

| 530983 | 2007-03-07 08:29:00 | Get hijackthis in my sig below . Unzip the zip file, put the file in it, in its own folder then run it, click on scan and save a log and post the log here . Something must be wrong why ctrl-alt-del doesnt work . Does regedit and msconfig open?? Or get Trojan remover in my sig below . See if it picks up anything . Install this, run it click on scan, then select the 3rd to 7th option under the utilities menu . |

| 530986 | 2007-03-08 01:22:00 | Also, some information can be gleaned form the Event Log. Have a look in Control Panel > Computer Management > Event Viewer. Have a look at the System and Application events, by double clicking on the ones you want to view. | Murray P (44) | ||
