530889 2007-03-07 04:07:00 Hi,
Hyberfil takes more than 1 gig away from the rootdirectory of my c: drive. Still,, even after switching the option hybernation off I can not delete the damned things as it tells me another program is using it............
I downloaded the little startup program that is supposed to get rid of it, but even that does not work.
Can I delete the monster in another way?

Cheers

Sorry Speedy, you are right.
I just could not get Spacemonger to work and delete the file.
I could also not find my original posting back, sorry.
And in my opinion, switching hybernation off does not delete the hyberfil file, even after restarting the computer.

530894 2007-03-07 08:59:00 I was so silly to buy a Dell notebook and think it is the Dell Quikset program that keeps hybernating active if on batteries, no matter what I tell windows to do. This because no matter how I delete the file, be it through Explorer or with spacemonger, it keeps telling me that it can not delete as another program is uding it.
Cheers and thanks so much for your help

Hi

The hiberfil.sys file should be deleted as soon as Hibernation is turned
off. Was Hibernation used at all prior to it being turned off?

530897 2007-03-09 03:20:00 Thanks Speedy, solved.
It was indeed still used by dell's own powermanagement, the little program you advised me showed that.
Problem solved by diengaging the Dell prog and I freed 1 Gig.

cheers mate
