2007-03-10 05:25:00 | Ok it's time to decide whether to buy Vista as a birthday present to myself (sad I know). For anyone who has it already, how well have you found it works with other software? Would you recommend going for it now or waiting for a while yet? | Twelvevolts (5457) | |

2007-03-10 05:53:00 | I tried Vista Ultimate (32-bit) for a week. I found that Vista is far more stable than XP in my everyday uses, but the annoying thing I had was the incapability of Vista for it to properly install and uninstall my video card drivers. And without those drivers, I can't play any games. So, I decided to revert back to XP and wait maybe a few more months to get back to Vista.

2007-03-10 05:59:00 | Despite all the flak the knockers and the donts, I have vista i have all my programs installed and within the 5 weeks ive had it it hasnt crashed or given me any trouble, It runs smoothly and faultlessly but its up to you if you want to buy it. The next thread after this one will probably be full of don't buy wait wait wait do'nt do this bla bla bla. Im running OEM premium home edition which is the full edition and its sweet as i recommend you buy it but as i say all the knockers and baggers will be out next to say dont listen to me ya da ya da ya da. | Hitech (9024) | |
2007-03-10 06:09:00 | Regarding the "knockers" and "baggers" of Vista, when I can find a series of good or excellent reviews like more than 1 written about Vista from neutral international publications such as Forbes, Time, NewsWeek, ZDNet or PC World.com etc then I will start taking a favourable view of it. Until that happens I believe that XP which has been out since late 2001 is still sufficient for users. | winmacguy (3367) | |
2007-03-10 06:27:00 | I gotta agree with Winmacguy, and that first link of his on "Why Aren't You Upgrading to Vista?" is a very nice quick summary of why its not worth upgrading. Stick with XP, spend $800 and buy yourself a new mobo & decent SLI setup! At least SLI works with XP :D ..although Ive heard that SLI support is currently in the beta drivers for Vista as of lately

I always say don't listen to other people until you've seen/experienced it for yourself. Well, for most things anyway. When people tell you it hurts to touch fire, well....listen to that advice. :p I liked Vista. I'll upgrade back to it soon, and I hope nVidia would have made a final version driver. |

2007-03-10 08:28:00 | It really depends if your hardware can handle it, and has the appropriate drivers. If so, then go for it - I'm using Vista at the moment and its quite good - haven't had any driver issues whatsoever, and performance is good (though I do have a fairly high-speced laptop). | somebody (208) | |
