531568 2007-03-09 23:12:00 I'm trying to sus out this problem with my parents comp.

For some reason the sound keeps cutting out, it will work for about 5 Min or so then it will just stop.

To get the audio back you have to reboot the comp, and it will work fine for a few minutes or so again before it cuts out.

However...
If you Don't listen to any music or watch any videos the audio will work fine for the usual windows default sounds the whole time the comps on.

It isn't until you start using media player or watching youtube until it cuts out. Sometimes it will last for 10 min other times it will last for only 2min.

I recently did a clean install of xp, I thought that it was fixed as it seemed to work fine, but a few days later the problem has returned.

It is integrated audio: Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA (R) Audio Controller

I have downloaded the latest drivers.
There are no conflicts or problems in Device Manager

AFAIK there are no viruses, malware, horses or spyware on the comp.

I couldn't find any software problem pertaining to this,
so I put in an old but good soundcard I had lying around.
I thought it would be the workaround I was looking for, but bugger me days the same thing happened again, but this time the audio would cut out soon as I started media player (ie Windows Login tunes worked fine)

So I'm back to square one, Any suggestions would be appreciated

Unfortunatelyit didn't work, Windows Audio Service still says it's running.

Any ideas? Could be it be a Mobo problem?

Cheers
