532264 2007-03-12 07:35:00 Well, I fixed it.... Reinstalled the original drivers, as I have done 2-3 times before with no luck, and now it goes fine.... george12 (7)
532265 2007-03-12 08:11:00 I spoke to soon. After a reboot, it's back to square one and I can't get it working again. Interestingly, when it isn't working, Sound recorder does not do anything when I click play, but it did when the sound was... george12 (7)
532266 2007-03-12 08:24:00 Control panel>sounds and audio devices, Tell us if this is functioning or greyed out/disables, or springs up a msg that no audio device is present. Metla (12)
532267 2007-03-12 09:14:00 Lately it's started spitting out loud, strange beeping & static noises for a few seconds at a time, every 10-60 mins but only if I'm doing something.

Nothing is greyed out Metla, BUT the volume control thing is not in the system tray even though it is told to be (the option is selected).

532269 2007-03-12 09:32:00 Wow..... I shut it down and it released a horrific 15 second burst of raw ugliness from the speakers .....

Anyway, there seems to be no pattern to it. I rebooted, it worked fine. Rebooted again, no sound, but this time the sound icon WAS in the tray. The Windows Audio .... Service is running fine, and there's nothing in the event log that could be related.

532272 2007-03-12 10:04:00 I have it so that around every 2nd reboot on average has sound ...... So its intermittant .... an intermittant software fault???

532273 2007-03-12 10:06:00 Then do it without telling him, Just hand him the urn, and an invoice, claim that you had to fight mighty spirits, and that the battle destroyed the chattle, But reassure him that what needed to be done was done, and that the evil spirits packaged and sold by Dell have been banished back to the hell they were spawned from.

It would probally help if you wore a feather head-dress and rattled a bone necklace while you informed him of this.
