| 531960 | 2007-03-12 12:09:00 | Beryl was really easy. Just disabled start-splash, logged out and then in again, but this time chose option for Beryl at login. Up came beryl desktop. All the eye-candy for things like minimising & maximising windows etc. Cube 3D interface works really nice (hold down middle mouse button to rotate). So far has been very stable - no hitches. Has transparency too. Getting very late now - so will have to play some more tomorrow. Murray and Mepis team have done an outstanding job. Still can't believe I've only been using Linux for 3 weeks & here I have a functional OS that so far looks as good as (if not better than) Vista but without the cost! Another plus is that it's definitely more stable (if what I'm reading on the web is true) - for me anyway. Now if I can just get wine to work so that my wife can get her hoyle games etc to work - then I'm home free. Will post on progress once I learn some more. |
